F.A.Q
How long will The DEA process take?
Once you have accepted The DEAs quote, we aim to complete the whole DEA process within these timeframes:
1) An average condition, 3 bedroom home takes approximately 2-5 full days.
2) An average condition, 4-5 bedroom, multiple bathroom home takes approximately 4-7 full days.
3) Hoarding situations (house size dependent) takes approximately 7-10 full days.
As each estate/property type is completely different with numerous variables, the time-frame can be discussed at the time of quoting. The DEA aims to complete each job in a timely and efficient manner.
How does The DEA quote for my Estate?
The first step is to walk around the property with you, the client, to determine what services you would like The DEA to cover. We will offer you advice during this part on how best to approach the situation so you benefit from our years of experience. We are very practiced at what is involved with both our workload and the associated costs for you. This way, both parties are clear on expectations, budgets, specific requests and so forth. We aim to make this step as stress free and easy as possible for the client. You simply tell us what you want to achieve and we aim to fulfil that to the highest standard. This “walk around” process typically takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Once the walk around process is complete, you will receive your free, no obligation quote via email within 24 hours.
How does The DEA base their quote for my Estate?
The DEA looks at the following factors when formulating your quote:
1) The size and layout of the house and property.
2) The amount, size and how to remove any remaining chattels.
3) The Sale, Donation or Disposal of the remaining chattels, all other items and refuse in terms of The DEA completing this for the estate, proximity to any and all of the relevant locations required.
4) The degree of cleaning, decluttering, and state of the house and garden/property based on our “walk around”.
5) The work/labour involved for The DEA to complete the entire process.
6) Other factors such as site access, urgency of completion for the client, any specific client requests.
Our experience in this industry means The DEA quotes are thorough, competitively priced and transparent. We are very big on clarity around our quotes – what you see is what you get. No hidden extras. Any unforeseen costs not quoted for by The DEA but discovered during the process will be brought to the client’s attention and discussed promptly.
Is a quote required and how much does it cost?
Our free, no obligation quote is most definitely required for The DEA and you, the client, to be on the same page in terms of expectations. Our “walk around” with you during the quote process is easy and takes only 10-15 minutes to complete. We will discuss with you your requirements and any specific requests for the estate and property. Once we have mutually determined any and all aspects of the quote during this walk around, within 24 hours you will receive your free, no obligation quote via email.
What happens to all the remaining chattels?
After the family have removed any sentimental or inherited items from the house and property, The DEA then assign all remaining chattels, furniture, personal belongings and refuse to 3 categories: SELL, DONATE or DISPOSE.
The DEA will document those chattels/items that we sell/donate on your behalf for both your records and ours. Any remaining unsaleable or broken chattels/items and rubbish in the “disposal” category are taken by The DEA to the local transfer station or go into the rubbish skip on-site. If, during The DEA process, we find any overlooked items that may be sentimental to the family, we put them aside and contact you promptly to discuss.
How long does the “Sell” part of the chattels take with The DEA?
Selling and auctioning of any remaining chattels in our “SELL” category can take 1-4 weeks to complete. We have found that by taking a little extra time, we can maximise the profits returned to our clients/the estate. Any chattels remaining unsold after 4 weeks will be disposed of at our discretion. After 1-4 weeks we will deposit the profits into your nominated bank account and provide you with a full detailed sales document.
The DEA take a 25% commission/finder’s fee for our dedication, effort and time in achieving the best price for your chattels and therefore the estate.
Do I have to be there when The DEA is working on my estate?
No. From our perspective and experience, it is easier, faster and more efficient for The DEA to complete the quoted and required work on the estate and property without the client present. However, if at any stage you want to look in on the process or progress, feel free to do so! Rest assured, your estate and property are in trustworthy and honest hands.
